Diane Pardy Farr is a talented artist that brings
intelligence, sensitivity, and a wide range of interests and passions to her work. Born and
raised in Connecticut, Diane has always been creative and artistic, but was
encouraged to pursue interests in other fields. After graduating from Duke
University, she worked for 10 years in Boston in high tech sales and marketing
management, indulging her passion for art, theater, literature and music in her free time.
She also traveled extensively in the US and abroad, always eager to explore new
places, people & cultures. Following a move to Cleveland and the birth of
her first child, Diane decided to focus her time and energy on her family and
her art.
Diane has studied at the Cleveland
Institute of Art and with noted artists including David Leffel, Sally Strand,
Calvin Liang, Ken Cadwallader and Jane Carlson. She is also an avid reader, constantly studying and
applying ideas and techniques learned from the works and writings of current
masters such as Ken Howard, Kevin Macpherson, Richard Schmid, and Thomas Buechner.
She is currently working on her MFA with the Academy of Art
University, San Francisco. Inspired by color and the play of light and shadow across all manner of subjects, Diane's work is informed by all the passions and experiences of her life, travels, and studies, thus providing for the richness in subject matter and approach for which she is known. Painting exclusively in oils, Diane keeps things interesting by painting still lifes, figurative works, landscapes, and portraits, and accepts commissions in all. Her style combines elements of the old masters, Impressionism, and Realism. While traditional in approach, her work has a fresh contemporary appeal. Diane Farr's portraits and paintings are held in many private and corporate collections across the US and in Sweden. A juried associate member of Allied Artists of America, the National Association of Women Artist, the Portrait Society of America, and Oil Painters of America, her work has been exhibited across the country and in her native New England. She lives with her husband and two children in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. |
